Actor Warren Beatty declared during a conference that he's not ready to run for public office against governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Beatty, 68, was invited to speak at a California Nurses Association dinner on Thursday. He made an appearance accompanied by his wife Annette Bening and his friend Sean Penn. During the event, he told the crowd he doesn't believe it's time to run for the Governor of California position, arguing he still can make his voice heard without performing a public service.
He stated : "I've always preferred not to run for public office. Instead, you say what you think is the truth and you try to perform a public service. Running for a public office is another matter. Some time you might have to do that.
I don't really want to have to do that. I tell you what I do want to do - continue saying what I think is the right thing to say."
Republican Schwarzenegger refused further comment on Beatty's decision, but admitted he finds it strange that the actor is still thinking over this matter. He said: "I find it silly, because I respect his work."
