Other problems include slowed down performance

In late August, we finally brought Acer Iconia A1-830 tablet owners the news they have desperately been waiting for – the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for their tablet was finally rolling out.

But as with every update, it’s best you don’t hurry to try the new build among the first. As we have often seen, these updates tend to bring about some issues which the tablet wasn't facing prior to the update..

Android 4.4.2 KitKat hasn't been out long, but there are plenty of issues to be dealt with

It’s been a few weeks since KitKat started rolling out for the tablet and a lot of curious users have installed the new build on their tab. And of course, the issues have started pouring in.

One most wide-spread issue seems to be related to the incapacity to load Facebook Messenger, but other apps are also affected. However, user IronFly seems to have a found a workaround for the Facebook problem, so if you are experiencing the same woes, you can try and follow this steps and see if it helps.

“About Facebook/Messenger issue, go to:

- system settings/apps

- tap on facebook or messenger app

- tap on "clear data" (you will loose your automatic login and application data stored on your tablet, it's like a fresh application install)

- run facebook/messenger application again.”

After the update, a few users reported not being able to access the Netflix app either. Acer has promised an update fixing the problem soon.

The problems extend beyond apps

But Android 4.4 KitKat doesn't only cause problems in the app department. Some users have confirmed overall performance levels have been going down the drain.

“The tablet seems laggy after the update, quite a few stutters. I did a factory reset then rebooted twice and let the tablet settle for a couple of hours, still laggy,” says user gsm-terra.

Even more worrisome is the fact that some owners of the Acer tablet under discussion have been claiming their device is being rendered totally unusable after the update.

“As you probably now, 4.4.2 KitKat was released for my tablet today. I was very excited, so I downloaded it and installed it. When the installation was finished, it was preparing media things (after the Android logo with Chinese words) and my tab crashed 3 times during that process.”

“Finally, when everything was prepared, I started using tablet like I do every day. From that moment, I had to restart my tab about 20 times because it was freezing. Does anyone know what is the problem? I can barely use device for 1 hour before it freezes. Thank you in advance,” says medalekspmc.

For some users performing a factory reset solves this problem. But before doing such a thing, note that you need to back up your data, because the reset will wipe off all of your information.
