With over one year to go until the release of Baz Luhrmann's “The Great Gatsby,” at least we have something to go on. Warner Bros. has just released the first official photos from the film – and they're quite spectacular.
Then again, it would be quite impossible to be otherwise with a budget believed to have easily topped $100 million (€74.9 million) and a cast made up of the crème de la crème.
Starring Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Gemma Ward, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke, the film depicts an long-gone era of jazz, forbidden pleasures, depravity and the act of creation.
“'The Great Gatsby' follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings,” reads the synopsis of the film.
Here, he will get a taste of the life and loves of the rich, an experience that will change him for life.
“The Great Gatsby” is scheduled for theatrical release around Christmastime 2012, in 3D – just imagine that.
