Here’s finally something worth gushing about: following the success of an unofficial Wonder Woman short film and much speculation about how Gina Carano was being considered for a big screen adaptation, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara has just dropped the first hint that the franchise might be one of their next projects.

During a recent press call, Tsujihara talked about superhero franchises and how Warners had been missing out by not acquiring rights for others than Superman and Batman.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that his exact words were that this was a “missed opportunity,” after which he added that the studio had “huge plans for a number of other DC properties on TV.”

“We need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV,” the CEO added, as if the need for Warners to launch a new superhero franchise was directly connected to Wonder Woman.

As you may imagine, his words took fans by surprise but, at the same time, offered them reason to rejoice: Wonder Woman, though infinitely cool, is one of the most neglected superheroes ever, even though fans never stopped asking for either a TV series or a feature film.

Hopefully, Warner Bros. will finally make their wish come true.
