It’s no secret that zombie movies have reached a dead end, with the genre pretty much cannibalizing itself in recent years. However, good movies still come out every once in a while – and “Warm Bodies” seems one such instance.

Perhaps best described a zom-rom-com (zombie romantic comedy), it uses the same zombie tropes to build something new and, hopefully, deliver a good time in the process.

Nicholas Hoult plays a zombie with a conscience, or barely so. When he and Teresa Palmer cross paths, something clicks in him and his heart starts beating again.

As their unlikely (take that, Romeo and Juliet!) romance progresses, he is becoming human again and, with him, all the other zombies do too.

Before Teresa’s father John Malkovich too gets carried away in the general enthusiasm, there is still another problem to take care of: the Bonies, another type of undead.
