The guys at Mythic Entertainment are really happy these days. After releasing their first MMORPG (Massively Multyplayer Online Role Playing Game) that was based in the Warhammer universe, the sales are extremely good. So good, that in just a week since launch, over 500,000 players have created accounts for the game.

Here's what Mark Jacobs, manager of Mythic Entertainment had to say, “In just one week we have a half a million people playing WAR online, and the ranks of Order and Destruction are growing at a record-breaking pace for a new MMORPG. We spent years working to provide players with the most stable, epic, and polished online world we could, but it is the players that have truly brought the Age of Reckoning to life”.

He sure is a happy guy because he proved to all of the critics and those who didn't really believe in the chances that his MMORPG would make a decent profit, that they were wrong. He initially stated that the game would fight for supremacy with the best of them, like World of Warcraft. That statement was severely mocked by industry specialists. Needless to say, there were quite a lot of Warhammer fans who desperately expected the game and see characters from the original RPG in an online MMO. Mythic capitalized on this aspect, their target audience being precisely these die hard fans. Now, they really need to change their perspective, there are quite a lot of Warhammer fans, but they will eventually run out, so they should redefine their public. They should start attracting more casual players, who aren't in for the quests or items from the game, but just want to have fun.

In the end, the game is very good, having won a lot of prizes and awards from various gaming sites and being ranked in the top most expected titles for the PC this year. And with all these accomplishments, the sales that it's enjoying are not much of a shock. Let's hope it will continue the ascending trend in the future.

I played my first free month of Warhammer while playing WoW just trying to compare these 2 MMORPGS

what i have to say is that the company of warhammer initially said that warhammer will surpass WoW which definitely will never happen and am sad to admit it..

Warhammer @ the beginning was nice and interesting but while trying to create the game the designers didn't think much and i can explain it...

1.Wow needs lower requirements to play while Warhammer needs more, not a hardware specialist but everyone noticed that and its not that the graphics are so good that u wanna upgrade ur pc to try it like i did, which i regret but atleast now i can play wow with lesser latency

2.Warhammer is the OPPOSITE of user-friendly,common its really hard to understand and WHY does the experience-bar have to be in the top of the screen...so annoying

3.PVP or RVR in Warhammer just sucks, when u pvp @ wow you really feel the passion of each player but in warhammer what i see is just ppl running and spamming actionbar keys

4.Proffesions are hard to understand in warhammer,

this are just some things me and my friends wanted to point out but its a reality that warhammer wont be nothing in the next month coz everyone knows that wrath is coming out and everyone who quited wow for warhammer will come back to try it and from what it seems only blizzard can keep its customers satisfied in which warhammer company fails...sorry

Ah I see another WoW fanboi. Sorry your machine can't handle WAR but this is not Mythics fault. This isn't WoWv2 sorry if this is what you were expecting again sorry. The fact things are different is because "O MY GOSH" it's a different game.

If you can't handle anything that doesn't play like WoW you should never have picked up the game. It's obvious you tried to play this game just to make sure your worst fears were realized. Your review of the game added nothing and your inability to master the game and user interface seems more to do with a lack of ability than anything else.

The game is bloody good fun, it launched beautifully and any problems are dealt with almost as they arise. Nothing in this game grinds and you will find PQ"S and Scenarios lots of fun. The only real downside after the first month is the mail/auction house. They are so slow it's very frustrating but there again Mythic say they are working on a fix for that, what more could you ask for? a gaming company who listens and responds.

For all of the good reviews ( 90% ) you are going to get people who trash the game because it doesn't reach their personal expectations. Rather than say yes it's good, but not my type of game they will seek to convince you that because they don't like it then neither should you.

The first month is free, if you have an interest in this game just try it, the vast majority of people who did LOVE IT.

One last point the game runs under Windows XP like a dream with 1 gig of ram but if you are running Vista you will need a good 2 gigs.

WAAGH!!

Yeh Warhammer is a good game with good points and poeple like it.

But I brought the game tried it and just couldnt get into it.

Personal points
1) character graphics look out of place (running etc)
2) Game just seems unpolished
3) interfaces are not good looking or easy to use

PQ's rock and lvling from killing in RvR not bad makes it too easy but stops twinking.

Much of a muchness but it cannot touch wow imo

Twinking is just killing other people EZ mode, no skill required. Don't worry, they'll be out of WoW soon enough too.

As a lvl 25 war sorc, mmorpg gamer since UO8, I can say these anti-war comments are superficial and childish. "game just seems unpolsihed"??? as a software engineer in day life, this has got to be the most naive uneducated comment I've seen in a while. this fanboi could get his ass wiped and would still complain because the paper wasn't scented lemonly fresh. war is deadly addictive and my career is starting to suffer. but aren't we all in this econmy....but not Mythic!!! i have had only 3 client crashes and zero server issues over 6 days runtime on a subpar laptop.
