A new take on Valentine's Day

LittleBigPlanet is getting a free and cute Valentine's Day package to celebrate love and friendship, but Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, the MMO developed by Mythic Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, is having none of it. Even as in the real world pretty things dominate, the MMO is preparing to begin an event, called Night of Murder, set to bring even more death and destruction in a game which is already pretty bleak in its outlook on the world.

Night of Murder is set to begin on February 6, which is tomorrow, and will last until just after Valentine's Day, on February 15. The concept of the event is that the differences between Good and Evil and Order and Destruction become blurred as all the players in the game world are set to begin doing quests for Khaine, who is mainly seen as a god of murder, conflict and destruction, and is worshiped by the humans, high elves and dark elves.

Tasks will appear in the Tome of Knowledge, the comprehensive ledger that registers all information players need about the game world, as coming from Khaine, and players who do well in the tasks will get a bit of favor with the God of Murder. Be warned that you might be asked to kill some of your own brethren, who have been marked for death. Also, be on the lookout for Witch Elves and With Hunters that appear in the game world.

As their influence expands, players will be able to ask for rewards. These are: the Shadowbane Potion, which is set to offer a player the title “The Murderous;” the Screaming Skull for Destruction and Murder Fang for Order; the Talisman of Fell Whispers; Khaine's Regard and Burning Blood Potion.

Warhammer Online really needs this kind of special events, both to attract new players and to keep existing ones interested in the game. At the moment, the title has about 300,000 subscribers.
