Jumping on the bandwagon of Halloween related events, which already includes zombie action in games like Grand Theft Auto IV, World of Warcraft and City of Heroes/City of Villains, the developers of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning are announcing a special manifestation related to the Witching Night, when the lines between the world of the living and the world of the dead are blurred.

Mythic is saying that there will be four new public quests launched in the game, one for each tier. They will offer special rewards for those who enter and the public quests spots will be set in Realm versus Realm territory. Also, the reset times for these quests will be longer, because of their special nature. There will be heralds in the capital cities which are doling out the rewards for completing these quests.

Players also have the chance to meet Ghosts of the Fallen while wandering around the game world. They are not outwardly hostile, but killing one will get the player a special reward. There will be witches gathering at certain spots in Warhammer Online, getting ready to perform a special ritual. Meeting a witch group is challenging and they should be killed as quickly as possible in order to release the spirits of the dead trapped inside their bodies. Rewards include special rare masks.

World of Warcraft, the rival MMO produced by Blizzard, has also staged a Halloween event which involves crates and a zombie outbreak which heralds the coming of the Witch King. The idea is that the zombie plague is spreading and that the whole game world will soon come under siege. Players were initially enthusiastic about the event, but a lot of them are now complaining that you cannot get anything done in the game because of the overwhelming presence of zombies.
