BioWare Mythic assumes publishing and operating responsibilities

As we reported at the beginning of the week, Electronic Arts changed the name of Mythic Entertainment to BioWare Mythic. Furthermore, EA officially announced that Warhammer Online: The Age of Reckoning's European publishing and operating rights would be turned over from GOA, the France Telecom subsidiary which had been handling them until then, to the newly renamed studio.

“We thank GOA for the tremendous job they did launching WAR in Europe and serving this dynamic community for the past two years,” said Eugene Evans, the general manager of BioWare Mythic. “Today, we’re excited to have the opportunity for BioWare Mythic to directly care for WAR players throughout Europe. We are committed to providing the highest possible level of service and maintaining the glory of epic Realm vs. Realm battles for all European players.”

This may come as good news for European Warhammer Online players, as there have been many complaints about the GOA customer support service since the game was launched back in 2008. The French company is also infamous for the registration failure that plagued the first days of the European open beta for WAR. On the other hand, US players also experienced quite a big problem with Mythic's management earlier this year, when they were erroneously billed multiple times by the company. The problem was fixed shortly and they received full refunds of the big sums of money they accidentally paid.

During the transition, European servers and other services will be offline for 48 to 72 hours. Customers will be compensated afterwards, as EA plans to celebrate this move by awarding the subscribers 14 days of free gameplay. Standard fees will resume at the end of those two weeks. Furthermore, BioWare Mythic promises that no information will be lost during the transfer period, WAR Europe getting back on track after the three days end.
