14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer Fatshark announces that it is working on a new title called Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, which will deliver a blend of action, melee and first-person shooter mechanics to the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 later in 2015.
The focus of the game will be on cooperative mechanics, with players able to choose from five heroes, each of them designed to have different abilities and play styles, equipped with the fantasy gear that’s required to take out hordes of Skaven enemies.
The action in Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide takes place in Ubersreik, and a range of areas, from the top of the Magnus Tower to the bowels of the Under Empire, need to be defended from the enemy hordes.
The narrative of the title talks about an event which sees the Dark Chaos gods unifying their powers in order to attack the Empire, with the Skaven apparently used in order to strike at the faction from an unexpected direction.
Martin Wahlund, the chief executive officer of Fatshark, states, “Combining gritty combat with cooperative multiplayer action, Vermintide will provide the player with a completely new perspective of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, through the eyes of the heroes they play.”
He adds that his team aims to stay as close as possible to the lore of Warhammer fantasy and to create Skaven enemies that will be both terrifying to battle and familiar to long-term fans of the faction.

So far, the developers have not offered any information on the five heroes that will be available to the player or the races that will be featured in the title.
It’s also unclear whether a gamer can enjoy Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide on his own, with the AI taking control of his partners, or if they need to join other humans in order to battle the Skaven.
Much of the success of the new title from Fatshark will be linked to the infrastructure the studio will be able to create and to the variety of gameplay that the mix of shooter and melee combat can deliver.
