Two of the best strategy games in the Warhammer 40,000 universe were developed by Relic Entertainment. The first one, Dawn of War was launched back in 2004, around the same time Relic was acquired by THQ.

The second game in the Dawn of War series got released in 2009, but a third was never made as THQ filed for bankruptcy and SEGA acquired Relic and the rights to make Warhammer 40,000 games.

Unfortunately, the folks at Relic were involved in the development of another strategy game, Company of Heroes 2, which might be one of the reasons Dawn of War 3 wasn't announced yet.

The good news is that the situation could be changed in the coming months, as Relic has finally finished working on Company of Heroes 2.

Relic's next project should be announced in the coming months

GAF member FrankCaron found out that Relic is now in the process of hiring more people for its community team. Here is a short excerpt from the post:

“We also wanted to let everyone know that we will be building out our community team this year. We've shrunk in size here at Relic - from three people to one - and recognize that we need more assistance to better serve our Dawn of War community! We ask our fans for patience during this time, and are looking forward to introducing you to new staff as they come on!”

But that is not all. It looks like SEGA and Relic are now looking for people to hire in key posts, such as Art Director, Concept Artist, Executive Producer and many more.

This suggests that Relic will soon be relaunching itself and there's only one good reason that SEGA may allow it, another Warhammer game.

Although all these may indeed indicate that Relic is preparing for something bigger, we won't be sure until E3 2015 the studio unveils its plans for the future.
