Developer Eugen Systems and publisher Focus Home Interactive have announced that they are working on a new game called Wargame: AirLand Battle, which will use the same military strategy template of European Escalation and will move the action to Scandinavia, with a new focus on air-based assets.

The new strategy game will use the IRISZOOM Engine, which allows impressive detail at ground level while also giving players a simple way of checking out the top-level strategy layer in order to coordinate the moves of their forces.

Gamers will again be able to use hardware drawn from the Cold War period between 1975 and 1985 and there are now 150 planes to control, ranging from fighters to electronic warfare and bombers.

There are now also four new nations to control, added to the core eight of the first game, with the entire game now adding 750 vehicles to use in the various tactical situations.

Wargame: AirLand Battle will be launched on the PC during 2013.
