Warframe, the free-to-play shooter from Digital Extremes, has just received its biggest patch yet on the PS4, in the form of Update 14, which brings forth a series of major changes to the whole experience, not to mention plenty of new things, such as a new character called Mirage, as well as new weapons and customization options.

Warframe is one of the most popular free-to-play shooters in recent years, starting out life first on the PC and then appearing on the PS4 right at its launch last November. Since then, developer Digital Extremes has made sure that the title gets lots of love and care and has released a multitude of patches and updates designed to improve the game and add new things.

Now, the latest and greatest patch has just gone live on the PS4 platform, bringing forth a large suite of new features and items for the online experience.

First up, players will be treated to a new user interface as well as a fresh tutorial system that walks them through the basics of the game, its lore and universe, as well as their own ship, the Liset, which is filled with all sorts of systems, menus, and components.

A special Genetic Foundry can also be unlocked on the aforementioned ship that allows players to breed their own Kubrows by collecting an egg, incubating it, and then using the foundry to equip it with different link mods. Genetic imprints of that Kubrow can be created and traded with other players to create the perfect pet.

Of course, another major addition is the new Warframe called Mirage that can wield powers that can spawn mirror images of itself to confuse opponents, as well as booby trap nearby objects and use bonus damage amplifiers.

A new competitive Player-versus-Player game mode called Dark Sectors conflict is also included to replace the old Solar Rails ones, allowing players to battle for objective completion as both attackers and defenders.

Existing game modes like Hive Sabotage, Exterminate, and Survival have been expanded to include the Infested, so expect fresh adventures in all of them.

As usual, plenty of new weapons and customization options are also included in the fresh Warframe update, like the Mirage's new Akzani dual pistols and many others.

The new Warframe Update 14 is now live on the PS4 platform. You can check out a video highlighting all these new changes below, as well as a trailer showing off the new Mirage Warframe in action.
