Gamers can try them out for free right now

Video game developer Crytek is announcing that it is adding two new game modes to its free online first-person shooter Warface, called Domination Versus Mode and Marathon Survival Mode, both designed based on feedback coming from the player community.

The team explains that the first of them will force one team to play in a defensive manner as it tries to secure three positions on the map and keep all attackers at bay.

The new SubZero Versus map is added for the mode, taking gamers to Siberia and asking them to consider carefully where they commit resources in order to try and secure victory using careful cooperation.

The Marathon Survival Mode for Warface uses the three original maps from the icy region and will offer an endurance-focused experience where the victorious players will have to take out enemies across the levels.

Spearhead, Ambush and Zenith each pose individual gameplay challenges, and the best players will have to adapt their strategies for each.

The first map includes waves of Blackwood operatives that are targeting one single console filled with intel.

Ambush has a powerful boss who appears just as an avalanche is triggered and changes the layout of the map.

Meanwhile, Zenith is a more classic experience, with trenches at the center of the action.

All the new content is free, as is the entire first-person shooter experience offered by Warface.

Crytek wants to deliver new content

Warface is an important title for the development team because it gives it space to experiment with new ideas while also offering a constant revenue stream delivered by those willing to pay for more content.

The game includes both cooperative and competitive movements and a wide array of weapons and classes.

Crytek has had a rough patch in the past few years, and titles like Ryse: Son of Rome have not managed to attract the expected critical acclaim and big sales.

The company can use the Warface experience as a way to steady itself, but it needs to introduce more content at regular intervals in order to keep the player base interested.

Crytek also has plans to improve the Cry Engine in the coming months, although it faces competition from the likes of Unreal Engine 4, Unity 5 and others.
