The team is trying to focus on a limited number of characters

The producer working on the upcoming Warcraft-themed movie project says that his team has been careful to avoid the problems that are often associated with the creation and the launch of films that are based on major video game properties.

Thomas Tull tells IGN that his team is committed to the delivery of a high-quality product that’s primarily designed to appeal to the general public, with both great visuals and an interesting set of narrative threads to follow.

The producer explains, “Doing a videogame movie has not really been done well, and I think part of the reason for that is it’s been done for the wrong reasons. If you simply say ‘How many people have played the game? How much money can we make?’ You’re doomed. You’re doomed right off the start.”

He also says that, during this year’s Comic-Con event, a trailer showing actual footage from the Warcraft movie will be shown, which is designed to give fans a hint about what they will be able to experience on launch date in March 2016.

Tull adds, “Bringing a filmmaker like Duncan Jones onboard to distill that and bring the incredible cast onboard that he was able to get… we hope that when you see the first trailer for it, you’re going to say ‘OK, this is not what I was expecting’. He’s an incredibly exciting filmmaker.”

It seems that the Warcraft movie will allow gamers to follow characters from both the Horde and Alliance, and that it will not use all the lore that has been delivered via the strategy game series first and then the MMO.

No clear information about the plot of the film has been released so far, but it seems that it will be focused on characters rather than the world-spanning conflict.

At the moment, the development team at Blizzard is working on an expansion called Warlords of Draenor, which will be launched before the end of the year.

It will allow gamers to visit the areas where the Orcs initially lived before their destructions and introduces new quests to play through and changes to all the classes.

At the same time, Blizzard is adding some more features for guilds, allowing them to have more of a physical presence in the game.

The number of subscribers for World of Warcraft has been on the decline lately, but it is still one of the most successful MMOs on the market.
