Every once in a while news like this hit, making me realize I've been living my entire life in the wrong country. LAN parties with good looking girl gamers, trance music and drinking soft champagne should have been my thing from the beginning. At least that's what I could understand from Basshunter's latest video that's musically treating the rather interesting theme of DotA!

The 21 year old Swedish DJ is known for his previous endeavor with the "Anna" video, and although it wasn't game related enough to make it newsworthy, time has come to take a look at his latest release, suggestively called "Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA (We sit on Ventrilo and play DotA)." Defense of the Ancients is a Warcraft III custom made map that saw a revitalization of the game in international competitions, at the same time targeting more and more the mainstream of casual gamers. Ventrilo is a popular voice over IP software usually associated with this kind of playing experience. This infectious dance number is featured on Basshunter's second album entitled LOL and showcases many DotA scenes along with Warcraft III character voice-overs, leading to feeling of authenticity.

Basshunter is the pseudonym of Swedish musician and DJ Jonas Altberg. With help from his computer, Altberg makes music using Fruityloops and describes it as eurodance. He's been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome and, on top of that, he is a veritable IRC freak, as shown by his strange choice of an album name. Apparently, the rather restrictive in concept video is enjoying its share of success in Sweden and it can be seen in the top 10 of music charts at the moment. The sociological perspectives are getting better by the day as gaming becomes embedded in the mundane reality.
