"War of the Worlds" took $34.6m in its opening weekend

Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" took 34,6 million in it's opening weekend, reports Paramount Pictures. The movie raised $21.3 million at the domestic box office, according to studio estimates released Thursday.

"War of the Worlds" is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tom Cruise, who, at the German premiere declared he believes in aliens.

The "War Of The Worlds" movie is a story based on the British writer H.G. Wells' 1898, about the invasion of aliens on Earth.
