Developer Fatshark and publisher Paradox Interactive have big long-term plans for their War of the Roses multiplayer medieval brawler, including the launch of a free trial edition of the game on February 6.

The new version of the game costs nothing and allows players to access all online battles, but does not include any unlocks and bars players from using classes and items that have been added since War of the Roses was launched.

The game will also get a new piece of premium downloadable content featuring the voice work of Brian Blessed, a British actor associated with medieval combat and battle commands.

Finally War of the Roses will also get a Kingmaker edition, which includes all the weapons, the armor and the character perks that have been added to the game since it was first launched, in October 2012.

Fatshark is also preparing a new update, called Outside the Law, which will introduce a deep forest map and the armor of Robin of Loxley.
