Step down Brit Brit and K-Fed, out of the way, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen! The "bitter custody battle" chic is so five years old. What the world needs now... no, it's not love, sweet love, but a different kind of battle: the baby picture wars are on, and Christina Aguilera is gloriously leading the struggle. Only trouble is, it's not working as well as expected.
The story goes like this: as we all know, Christina just gave birth to her first child, a baby boy she and her husband named Max, and she's decided to do what the likes of Angelina and Britney did before her - namely, sell out the first pictures of her baby to the highest bidder. I won't go into the ethics of doing such a thing - it's every patent's choice and that's all that can be said in this respect - but at least Angelina donated the $4 million to charity - again, in an ostentatious gesture, so it's all pretty much a jumble of controversies. Trouble is, Christina would like to follow in her footsteps, but as I was saying, it's not working out.
"Christina has an inflated sense of her own value and seems to expect an extortionate amount of money for these baby pictures. I'm not sure OK! or much of the industry thinks is a dollar figure that's worth it. She hasn't proven to be a real seller" a source commented. Apparently, Christina's wedding pictures and her Marie Claire cover didn't sell too well - so she's not precisely everybody's favorite cover girl at this point. To tell the truth, I always thought Christina was very much blessed, she has an amazing voice and a lot of talent, enough money to live in luxury for the rest of her life, and most importantly, she now has her baby boy to look after and nurture - so I really see no point to all this struggling for attention and media coverage.
The same source also states that Christina's negotiations with OK! fell through because they didn't agree to her demands of getting the full magazine cover all to herself. Also, Xtina wants to make sure that the magazine that runs her son's photos won't be running photos of Nicole Richie's baby, because apparently Christina hates Nicole. Personally, I think that's an exaggeration and that Christina simply wants to steal all the spotlight for herself, which is not that shocking - we are talking about Hollywood moms here after all. We'll keep you up to speed with any fresh news - in the meantime, we can make bets as to how much Christina will get for the baby pictures after all.
