Wesley Snipes became a fugitive last week when charges of tax fraud were filed against him. It seems that authorities discovered a $6 million fraud that the 'Blade' star pulled from unjustified tax refunds and immediately filed six counts against him. If found guilty, Snipes could face up to 16 years in jail.
After the arrest warrant was issued, Wesley fled the country but a spokesperson for the producers of 'Gallow Walker' says that he did not run from his responsibilities, he just stuck to a contract he had signed in September.
The movie shoots in Namibia, a few miles from the town where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came to escape the paparazzi for the birth of their daughter Shiloh. The publicist says that the actor, who came to fame for his part in 'White Men Can't Jump' and the 'Blade' series, will remain on location until production is over because that's what the contract stipulates.
'We are shooting and we are continuing to shoot. This is his priority at the moment. We are aware of the issue around the tax charges but we are not discussing it', the spokesperson said. He then added that the warrant on Wesley's name did not affect the movie in any negative way, on the contrary.
'It is not affecting us and will not disrupt the production of the film. He had already committed to starring in "Gallow Walker" in September last year and remains focused on the film', was the conclusion the producers reached. On the other hand, both Snipes and his publicist continue to remain tight-lipped about the charges and the way they will eventually have to respond to them.
