Not so long ago Samsung kicked off the rollout of the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone.

But apart from this particular model, it seems none of the other Samsung models is going to get Lollipop treatment until the end of the year. We should also mention that the update will reach owners of the Galaxy S5 in just a few countries by the end of 2014.

The rest of the bulk will be updated in 2015, when other handsets are reportedly going to receive the same update too. Earlier this month it was revealed that Samsung would push out the update for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and Note 4 in “early 2015,” but at the moment we don’t have the exact schedule.

Info about the update schedule of Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note Edge revealed

Anyway, we are now able to provide you with info about when the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Alpha pair of handsets are supposedly scheduled to receive Lollipops.

The information comes to us via Twitter shared by Sam Mobile founder, Dany Dorresteijn, who’s a pretty reliable source. According to him, Galaxy Note Edge owners can expect to see Lollipop make their way to their device starting February.

The unlocked version of the Edge is going to receive an update during the second month of 2015, because the carrier-bound version usually receives the same treatment a bit later, at least in the US.

As for the Galaxy Alpha, things are a little bit sketchier. The tweet mentions that the update is expected to hit devices starting in the first quarter of 2015. So by March, owners of the above-mentioned handset should be able to get Lollipop onboard.

The two smartphones are two premium devices

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge originally started out as a limited edition smartphone, as the South Korean company announced there wouldn’t be more than 1 million devices launched on the market.

But given the unexpected demand for this atypical smartphone, which takes advantage of a third display on the side that shows notifications, Samsung has decided to bring it to more countries including the US plus 18 additional territories.

The smartphone doesn't come cheap and those of you who want to grab it will have to take approximately $1000 / €807 out of their bank account.

As for the Galaxy Alpha, this is a handset coming with a 4.7-inch HD display and a metal frame. It draws life from an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chip fitted with 2GB of RAM and has a 12MP primary camera on it.

Samsung is marketing this device as a premium smartphone, so you can expect to pay around $600 / €495 for it, if you want it in your life.
