Things in the specs department are quite low

Sometimes tablet makers launch tablets thinking that the device will appeal to all customer categories out there, but this is unlikely to happen.

That’s why big tablet vendors like Samsung have countless products, designed to cater to the wishes of any sector.

But an Indian startup is currently attempting to win the customers’s hearts in a different manner. PinigTech offers a base model which they can build upon by adding the features suited to their specific needs.

A tablet for everybody out there

With this idea in mind, the company has devised specific segments like children, women, seniors, professionals and gamers.

And pricing is expected to be quite affordable too. The startup says rate should start climbing up from around $82 / €64.

These tablets will be customized at the software and hardware levels and will be marketed under the “Pinig Tabs” umbrella. The operating system of choice is obviously Android, which ranges from the most outdated version (Ice Cream Sandwich) to most recent ones (Jelly Bean).

The PinigTabs will be made available under the following categories: Executive Tab, Kids Tab, Woman Tab, Gaming Tab and Senior Tab.

Gaming, senior and women tabs are a bit unusual in the tablet world, but apart from that brand vendors like HP, Dell or Samsung are offering a lot of choices for business users and little techies alike.

Don't expect mind-blowing specs

Anyway back to Pinig Tech claims it can provide advanced models for the tech-savvy, but also devices that serve a much simpler purpose like allowing a senior citizen to keep in touch with family.

The apps uploaded on each tablet will correspond to the people using it. So, for example, a lady might want some fashion magazine apps pre-loaded on the tab, while children’s tab will come equipped with digital story books.

In the hardware department, things are pretty different, as the professional tabs will probably take advantage of more advanced specs, while the senior ones will be pretty basic.

Just in case you’re curious, we’re going to give you a glimpse into what kind of specs you can hope to expect on a senior tablet.

The tab comes with a 7-inch IPS display with 800 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz processor under the hood, one primary camera (0.3MP) and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). As you can see, the specs are quite low, but we guess for a tablet destined to the elderly it make sense, somehow.

By contrast, the executive tablet runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and draws life from a quad-core 1GHz processor. Resolution is also bumped up to 1024 x 768 pixels, but compared to other offerings on the market, this is quite ridiculous.

Basically, these tablets appeal for customers that don't want to spend too much, but if you want something "serious," you better look somewhere else.
