Chinese online stores sell physical mockups lacking the Apple logo

The launch of the elusive iPhone 6 may be a mere month away, but Chinese case vendors are seeing great demand for mockups that purport to show the final design of the handset, albeit without the iconic Apple logo branded on the back.

For around ¥370 ($60/€40) you can get your own iPhone 6 mockup from at least two vendors. Both sellers offer the hardware in silver, and you shouldn’t expect the product to be crafted from metal. Chances are the silver coloring comes from stickers.

This goes without saying but just in case you’re thinking of buying this hoping to see the Home screen light up when you press the buttons, don’t. These are basically just fake iPhone 6 mockups, empty shells that contain absolutely no electronics inside. There’s basically no reason to buy this thing other than to have a laugh with your friends or to tease people on the street.

Considering that the real iPhone 6 is weeks/months away, you’d be doing yourself a favor by just keeping your cash reserves intact. Especially if rumors about Apple increasing prices turn out to be true. According to several prominent analysts, the California tech giant is in talks with the carriers to stamp a $100/€100 premium on its upcoming handsets.
