Revenge Time!

Jan Paul Oson is an IT manager that has been working for a community health care organization in the United States. He got a bad performance evaluation so he resigned. Two months after doing that, he decided that it would be a nice thing to hack into his ex-employer's data base and start deleting some stuff. That's when the Police decided it would be nice to arrest him. He's facing up to 10 years behind bars now, but I can't say that I feel sorry for him. He is a cyber-criminal of the lowest type.

And his case is certainly not an isolated one. Many of these cyber-security enforcers go berserk on people that "hurt" them. Haven't you heard of such geeks taking down e-mails or sites of the person that dumped them and broke their heart? To be honest, two weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me to hack into her e-mail account because her ex-boyfriend had used a keylogger to hack it and now has changed the password. You'd say that social stuff and cyber things don't mix, but you'd be wrong!

A part of the hack attacks that happen today are acts of revenge because of something that happened in real life. And you don't need a study to tell you that, you've heard stories and you know how human nature works, don't you? In any case, if you think that your IT manager is being sloppy, do take care when you fire him. He does know the vulnerabilities of your network and if not treated with respect he will go black-hat on you. Why do these people do it? Because they can! Let's be serious, a lot of people do bad things when they can, if that means taking revenge.
