Walton Chaintech has been working on a new flash drive for a while and has finally managed to formally introduce what it praises as the world's smallest USB 3.0 product currently available. Known as the Astro Drive A101, the device is a very compact USB 3.0 flash drive aimed at enabling end-users to quickly copy and transport large files. This is accomplished thanks to the interface itself, which, as end-users most likely know very well by now, is significantly faster than its predecessor.

According to internal tests conducted by the company, its Astro Drive A101 has a read speed of up to 186MB/s and a maximum write speed of 130MB/s. This means that end-users will have to wait a significantly shorter time, compared to USB 2.0 drives, for large files to be transferred. Also, the company offers the device in multiple storage capacities in order to satisfy the needs of both budget-conscious end-users and those interested in flash devices with a storage space as high as possible.

Of course, the company made its storage unit fully compatible with USB 2.0 ports in order to render it more versatile. Also, to further increase the product's appeal, Walton Chaintech enclosed the actual storage space inside a casing colored in a combination of red and silver. This, the company claims, is meant to distinguish the product from the “cold, emotionless” ones.

“Apart from its advances in transmission efficacy, the Astro Drive Series A101 thumb drive is also petite in size. The Astro Drive Series A101 is miniature in comparison to the 2.5-inch products sold by other competitors.[...]In addition, the dual color exterior design in red and silver conveys high-tech qualities, while also adding a sense of trendiness with its flame-red contours. This makes the A101 more than just a cold, emotionless tech product.” the press release states. The Astro Drive A101 USB 3.0 flash drive comes in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Unfortunately, the company did not disclose any pricing or availability details.
