“Breaking Bad” fans first said goodbye to Walter White on the series’ finale a few weeks ago but, the other day in Albuquerque, they got the chance to have some sort of closure – but only if they took part in the funeral procession organized by Jackamoe Buzzell.

Buzzell is just one of the many fans of the AMC series who feels that the Walter White / Heisenberg character, played by Bryan Cranston, deserves a special place in their life, one that’s different from other fictional favorites.

Because he was one of the best-written and defined characters in television in recent years and because his story brought attention to Albuquerque, Buzzell came up with the funeral idea: he charged people to be in it and, this way, raised money for the Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless.

When the funeral was over, Buzzell had managed to raise $17,000 (€12,426) for the homeless but, as KOB reports, not everyone was thrilled with the idea for the procession.

The Sheriff had signed off on it and two of the deputies used in the procession were paid from taxpayers’ money. Moreover, the procession ended with an actual burial: Buzzell buried an empty casket at the Sunset Memorial Park, with Walter White’s name on it.

In other words, among the real dead people buried there, there’s a fictional character also resting in peace and it’s not sitting well with the relatives of the former, who think it’s a sign of disrespect to make a spectacle out of mourning.

However, as the video below will show, the Sheriff stresses that what’s important here is the fact that money was raised to help the homeless and the addicts of Albuquerque.

He too isn’t happy with the idea of holding a funeral for a fictional character who cooked and sold meth, no less, but at the end of the day, he chooses to focus on that it was all for a good cause.

The relatives of the people buried in the same spot as Walter White are now looking into their options to have his “tomb” removed.
