Microsoft continues to develop the content made available to users of its Xbox LIVE Marketplace online service. According to the company, the latest addition of material will feature top titles from the Walt Disney Studios. Via the combination of Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, users will be able to access a collection of both blockbuster and classic movies, following a new partnership inked by Microsoft and Disney-ABC Domestic Television. The new catalog of content from the Walt Disney Studios will be available under a model of rentals on demand. The only downside to the partnership is the fact that it is exclusive to the United States.

"We're always looking for more ways to let people experience our films," said Dan Cohen, executive vice president of pay television and interactive media for Disney-ABC Domestic Television. "With the millions of Xbox 360 consoles in living rooms today with a direct, high-speed Internet connection, Xbox LIVE really has become a terrific device for the delivery of digital entertainment content."

"Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE Marketplace truly offer something for everyone of all ages, gender or personal taste," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. "With this partnership, we are able to feature blockbuster new releases as they become available, as well as an incredible array of classic family films that made Disney the icon it is today."

Starting on July 10 2007, movies from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures and Miramax Films, are available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Titles such as "Bridge to Terabithia," "The Queen" and "D?j? Vu" are immediately available for rent on Xbox LIVE. Microsoft informed that the materials from Walt Disney will be featured in both standard and high definition. Currently, the Redmond company counted in excess of 10 million downloads of entertainment materials via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
