Walmart recently announced plans to offer customers more cost-saving options for the holiday purchases season. According to the retailer, users who purchase a BlackBerry device from it, during the one-week period starting with Saturday, November 14, will receive a $100 Walmart Gift Card that can be used for the purchase of any other product in the store. However, the BlackBerry will have to be acquired with a two-year contract agreement with one of the major carriers in the country: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless.

“We know customers are very focused on value, and we have promised each week to deliver new savings to help them stretch their dollars this holiday season,” said Greg Hall, vice president Media Services, Walmart U.S. “With our expansion of Walmart Wireless products over the last year, we look forward to providing an exciting offer on our BlackBerry assortment and give cellular customers an extra boost on holiday needs.”

Starting Saturday, November 14 at 8 am, all the way through November 20, any customer who purchases a BlackBerry device from Walmart with a contract with one of the aforementioned carriers in the US will receive a $100 Walmart Gift Card. The handsets are available at the every day prices, Walmart adds. The BlackBerry smartphones included in this offering are:
- AT&T Curve 8310
- AT&T Bold 9000
- Sprint Curve 8330 (Red & Titanium colors)
- T-Mobile 8520 (Black, White, and Frost)
- T-Mobile Pearl 8120 (Emerald)
- Verizon Storm
- Verizon Storm II

According to the retailer, users are increasingly interested in purchasing devices that offer new functionalities, larger memory space or connectivity to email, photos, music, and video services. Smartphones are some of the most wanted such devices, and although the world has been through an economic turmoil, these handsets have seen growth in shipments, due to higher demand and lower price tags.

Walmart also added that the $100 Gift Card could be used either the same day or for any future purchase. Moreover, the company also announced that those who would purchase a BlackBerry device from its website would also receive a $100 Walmart.com eGift Card, which would be emailed within the following four to six weeks.
