After many years of speculation and following the buzz created a few months ago as the cast was shooting on location, fans get a first peek at the follow-up to the highly successful 1987 “Wall Street.” Titled “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” and welcoming Michael Douglas to the role of Gordon Gekko, the sequel arrives in 2010 – and we are now offered a first look at it.

As Examiner puts it, it was about time the trailer came, especially since it took the crew so many years until it was reunited again for the sequel. All this time, fans were kept waiting and, most importantly, wondering whether “Wall Street 2” will ever get made despite promises coming from all sides that it should drop “soon.” At last, that “soon” is indeed “soon,” with Douglas joining Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan, Charlie Sheen, Susan Sarandon, Frank Langella, Josh Brolin and, of course, director Oliver Stone for “Money Never Sleeps.”

“The film looks to return Michael Douglas to one of his most famous roles, and update a story all about greed on Wall Street. The first trailer has just been released to try to create buzz, and it has at least created buzz for people wanting to see the trailer. This time around it appears that Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) may be on the ‘good’ side of things after being released from prison for what he did in the first movie. Shia LaBeouf plays a money tycoon who is dating his daughter (Carey Mulligan), and several other big name actors are along for the ride. At the top of that list is Josh Brolin and Frank Langella, but good luck trying to figure out what they are doing in the movie based on the Wall Street 2 teaser trailer,” Examiner says.

“Oliver Stone is back as director of Wall Street 2, but a lot is being kept under wraps about where this film will be heading. Sure there are web sites out there where you can go read plot spoilers if you want to, but the enjoyment of watching films like this is the opportunity to be surprised. Hopefully Wall Street 2 is holding back some of those surprises, because the first trailer seemed like nothing more than a tease to wake people up about Michael Douglas returning to the big screen,” the publication further notes.

In all fairness, one can’t make much of the plot in the sequel, except for some minor things here and there, like Douglas and LaBeouf’s characters ending up in a situation where they must work together. On the other hand, it is being pointed out, Stone rarely disappoints and the trailer seems to hint at a very promising movie. Check it out below and keep an eye here for updates.
