Sustainable development has really taken off these past few years, and Walgreens appears to be fully aware of this. Hence its planning to build America's first so-called zero energy superstore.

Information shared with the general public says that this superstore will have its energy demands met with the help of renewables alone. Thus, sources report that the store is to be equipped with 800 solar panels and two wind turbines.

Furthermore, rumor has it that geothermal energy will also make its way into the mix. It is the company's hope that this will translate into the store's not needing to make use of other power sources in order to keep up and running.

The store is set to be built in Evanston, Illinois, and greenheads can only hope that others of its kind will shortly follow.
