The world wide web may get a new domain name, especially .qc, anytime soon as the Quebec officials started a petition in order to convince the responsible organizations that the country deserves its own domain. Until now, Quebec's websites were available under a qc.ca extension but the officials intend to remove the .ca suffix in the near future. According to Web User News, the entire campaign was started by Daniel Turp, "a member of the Parti Quebecois", who said that having a domain name on the web helps users identify a nation easier than anytime before.

"Quebec has a certain number of symbols, it has a flag, it has a national assembly, it has all kinds of symbols that identify what Quebec is...and in these modern times, one way to identify a nation is also through an extension on the web," Daniel Turp said according to Web User News.

At this time, buying a domain name is incredibly cheap and easy to do since there are lots of companies out there focused on this type of transactions. However, the prices are different depending on the extension you want, no matter if we're talking about .com, .eu or .org. For instance, GoDaddy, one of the largest domain registrar companies on the web, sells a .com domain for only $6.99 per year which is quite affordable in case you want to create a website.

As you may have heard, there have been some talks concerning an .xxx domain especially addressed to the companies involved in the pornographic industry which would allow both users and companies identify adult material easier than before. However, although this matter has been brought in discussion several times, the international organization which analyzed the possibility of introducing a new domain has rejected the request.
