WWE Legends of WrestleMania Will Start the fight Next Year

- Another wrestling game under development by THQ

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

If you are one of those diehard fans that just can't get enough wrestling (because, let's be honest, "enough" is such a vague term), THQ has decided to bring
a huge smile on your faces, announcing that it is working on yet another wrestling fighting game, called WWE Legends of WrestleMania. Its development is not just another way to milk even more money from the beloved phenomenon, however: the game is scheduled to be released in March 2009, planned to coincide with the annual pinnacle of sports entertainment, WrestleMania 25 in Houston, Texas.

Joining the distinguished WWE SmackDown/SmackDown vs. Raw franchise, which has shipped more than 37 million units worldwide since 2000, WWE Legends WrestleMania hopes to join the league and generate at least similar success as its brothers and deliver a full wrestling experience fans all over the world will enjoy.

"We have generated significant year-over-year growth in key global territories with WWE-licensed videogames, including tremendous success with the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise," said Peter Matiss, vice president, global brand management, THQ. "The development capabilities afforded by next generation hardware, combined with our established history and deep understanding of fighting videogames allow us to leverage the strength of the WWE brand to further extend our leadership in the fighting videogame genre and bring this new property to market."

Still, since the game's development is still in its early stages of production, details are scarce, but we could assume that the game will be developed for major console systems and will fully use the next-gen technology. It will probably be an overall better experience than the recently released THQ wrestling games and we can hardly wait for it to be released. We're sure that you feel the same, too.
