It’s a sad day for wrestling fans, as WWE legend Ultimate Warrior has died. His passing was confirmed by WWE in a statement on the official website, but no cause of death has been announced. Warrior was 54 years old.

He is survived by his wife Dana and their 2 daughters and leaves millions of wrestling fans with a broken heart. Warrior was also a motivational speaker and an outspoken blogger, covering topics from politics, celebrity, history, and religion.

Before his sudden passing just hours ago, Warrior, real name James Brian Hellwig, had appeared at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw after a pause of many years. He was also inducted in the Hall of Fame before the former event took place.

You can see his appearance on Monday Night Raw embedded in the video below: he was welcomed with wild cheers and applause and strangely talked about what makes a man a “legend” after his passing. He also thanked the fans for their years of undying support, calling them the true legend-makers because, without them, nothing would be possible.

“WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior,” WWE says.

“Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter,” the statement adds. Hulk was Warrior’s biggest rival.

“WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans,” WWE concludes by saying.

As famous wrestlers and fans from all over the world are taking to social media to pass their condolences to the family and their regret at having lost such a prominent figure in the industry, sources with the police offer TMZ Sports a few more details into what happened.

A cause of death has not been announced yet, but officials say for the aforementioned media outlet that Warrior was leaving his hotel in Arizona in the afternoon when, on the way to his car with his wife Dana, he just collapsed.

Death seems to have been instantaneous or occurred shortly after because, though he was rushed to a nearby hospital in good time, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

An investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of death. When this happens, authorities will probably be making it public in a press conference, so keep an eye on this space for more details.
