There has been so much speculation regarding the troubled relationship between Julia Roberts and her half-sister Nancy Motes that it's very hard at this point to discern what is real and what is not. What was needed was an interview with Julia Roberts herself in which she would talk plainly about the matter.

The Wall Street Journal has gotten the interview with Julia and it revealed the heartbreak for her and her family, as they had to cope with Nancy's shocking suicide at the age of 37.

The words Julia used to describe her feelings on the matter were “It's just heartbreak. There aren't word to explain what any of us have been through in these last 20 days. It's hour by hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead.”

Nancy Motes, Julia's half-sister, was found dead in a Los Angeles apartment on February 9 of an apparent drug overdose. The scandal that followed her death was due to a suicide note she'd left behind in which she mentioned that she couldn't wait to “belong to another family.”

Many believed that her growing apart from her more famous sister had led Nancy into a depression that would eventually push her to suicide. This notion was also enforced by Nancy's surviving fiancé, John Dilbeck, who pointed a blaming finger at Julia for driving her sister over the edge.

Roberts underlines the idea that her family is now struggling to cope with the hurt and pain that comes with losing a family member but she claims that they all lean on each other for support. Among the methods she's using to come to terms with the events, she mentioned practicing meditation and chanting in order to remain calm.

This response is just what you might have expected on the matter: positive yet full of remorse, looking to the future and building stronger family ties. However, it does not address any of the scandals that have circulated in the media after Nancy's death.

For example, there is no talk of Nancy's video diary which was briefly leaked on the internet but then soon taken down by her estate. In it, she personally blamed her family for driving her into a deep state of depression because of her drug problems and subsequent weight problems.

Also, there was no mention of the hurtful tweets Nancy had been leaving on her social media for months prior to her death. In them, Julia wasn't presented in the most flattering light. She seemed bent on debunking Julia's image of “America's sweetheart” and exposing her as a mean and cold person.
