One of the most popular mobile phones that came to the market during the ongoing year with Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system on board was the HTC Touch Pro2. The handset is already available on a wide range of markets around the world and, ever since Microsoft released the 6.5 flavor of its platform, HTC has also delivered ROM upgrades for the device, with a carrier-specific ROM now available for download on the company's website.

The new ROM upgrade, version:1.90.61.0, comes towards HTC Touch Pro2 owners who are also customers of Orange, enabling them to taste the goodies the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform is capable of providing. Those willing to try out the new upgrade should make sure first that they need the software solution, and they can do so by accessing Start > Settings > System tab > Device Information > Version tab, from where HTC recommends for the ROM version, CPU, and Radio version to be written down.

At the same time, the company also notes that there are a series of benefits those performing the upgrade will enjoy: - HTC phones featuring Windows 6.5 are designed to handle your daily life, with only one consideration: You. - You can customize with programs, ringtones, TouchFLO 3D options, and more. - Connect with the people you care about most using Windows Live, Facebook and other chat clients available for download. - Backing up with Microsoft My Phone is as easy as typing in a username and password and selecting what you want to back up. Everything else is automatic. You can even let it run in the background while you surf the net, chat with friends, or have it just resting in your pocket while you relax on the couch. - All this and increased convenience with a one stop shop for applications available for free and for download in the brand new Marketplace.

Those who would like to apply the new upgrade should note that all data on their devices will be wiped out, and performing a backup prior to the upgrade process is necessary. The ROM can be installed via the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU), and users should check before proceeding that the USB sync cable is connected, that all apps on the phone are closed and that the battery level is of over 50 percent (one can check this here: Start > Settings > System tab > Power).

Additional details, as well as a download link for the new ROM can be found on HTC's website here.
