As the launch of Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system is nearing more and more with every day that passes by, new devices that should come to the market powered by it emerge into the wild. While some of them are official and have been already announced to land on October 6 or shortly after, others are still unofficial and waiting for an announcement to be made.

Following the trend of powerful smartphones that come to the market boasting a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor, which can be already spotted inside Toshiba's TG01 handset, and that should also include the HTC Leo (aka HTC Pro Three), the Acer F1 is yet another Windows phone that rumors say might be launched on October 6.

The handset has been spotted on the web a few times until now, yet only in unofficial photos, but it shouldn't be too long before Acer announces it as ready for launch. Along with the 1GHz Snapdragon processor, the handset should also come with a 3.8-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 800-pixel resolution, making it even more appealing.

The specifications list of the upcoming Windows phone also includes a quad-band GSM and tri-band HSPA connectivity, along with Wi-Fi capabilities, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headset jack, an accelerometer, 512MB of ROM and 256MB of RAM, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper that sports auto focus. Expect for other features to also be included in the package, along with support for a series of services that will come to all handsets running under Windows Mobile 6.5.

According to the news, the Acer F1 is expected to land on the UK market priced at around £295 (or $482), which, one should agree, is not too much considering its capabilities. In case Acer plans indeed to release the phone as soon as October 6, more details on its availability and exact pricing will surface in the near future, so stay tuned to learn the news.
