WDSGlobal has announced that it will provide from now on solutions for better email support on Windows Mobile 6. This comes as the number of people that are currently handling an email account from their mobile phones is continuously increasing.

What WDSGlobal additionally brings, as compared to mobile email, is the fact that the connectivity process will take place much faster and easier. All that the users will have to do from now on is to enter an existing email address and password when setting up their account on their mobile phone.

WDSGlobal retains email addresses in a database of mobile service settings called ServiceMine. This is capable of storing settings from more than 3500 POP3 and IMAP email service providers. Furthermore, these settings are delivered over-the-air to the device, providing the correct parameters to the email client. This includes incoming and outgoing mail servers and ports.

"With thousands of email service providers available to users, it's proven difficult for many carriers and device manufacturers to offer standardized and consistent email set-up support. Windows Mobile 6 removes much of the guesswork for the user, using ServiceMine from WDSGlobal to assure the accuracy of service settings. For the user it's as close to an out-of-the-box experience as possible, and for the carrier it's a means to ensuring a greater take-up of revenue-generating data services", said Tim Deluca-Smith, Vice President of Marketing at WDSGlobal.

Moreover, the configuration process often proves difficult to handle for mobile phone users too. "Mobile email is moving quickly into the consumer market. Unfortunately, for many users, the set-up process has been too complex, creating a massive barrier to service adoption", further declared Tim Deluca-Smith.

ServiceMine is actually capable of tracking a wide range of settings which might prove useful when using mobile Internet. This includes normal browsing, instant messaging, mobile TV, Push-to-Talk, enterprise and Java applications, as well as content services.
