My Book Live Duo, the personal Cloud Storage product from Western Digital, just got a new firmware update. The package comes with a handful of fixes and changes regarding compatibility issues and DLNA bugs.

First of all, it now supports Windows 8 so those who already updated can use the NAS hardware without any drawbacks. According to Western Digital officials, there will be an app for this OS launched in early 2013. Adding to this is an updated DLNA media server engine.

A new GUI completes the update, bringing new features like a “View My Files” link in the dashboard that opens the public share. Each individual file or folder is listed in the main software menu under “Shares” section, so it’s easily accessible.

Alerts for new firmware updates are now available and so are notifications that inform users that the drives can be utilized while RAID conversion is in progress.

Among the numerous fixes included, the issue of Apple Time Machine requesting to create a new backup is the one that caught our eye. As users say, this is a very useful fix but you have to have Java installed in order to view the files.

The full list of fixes, changes and improvements can be found in the driver’s description from the link below. Just click it, download, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
