14 DAY TRIAL // Western Digital, well known for its storage lineup, has just announced the availability of a new firmware package compatible with some of its NAS units, namely version 1.04.05 developed for the My Cloud Mirror, EX2, and EX4 personal cloud storages.
This new release resolves an issue regarding .smi subtitles file formats that wouldn’t be displayed when streaming videos to certain LG Smart TVs, and fixes the problem with data transfer interruption where files aren’t exchanged between the unit and an attached USB drive.
If you have been experiencing these errors, then save and extract the appropriate downloadable firmware package for your device model, log into its dashboard (user and password might be required), and go to Settings > Firmware Update section.
Now, click the “Update from File” button, navigate and select the .bin file from within the newly created folder, and choose the “OK” option in order to initiate the update process. Upon completion, the device will automatically reboot announcing a complete installation.
Bear in mind that, while the unit is applying the new firmware, you mustn’t use the device’s buttons, turn off the storage, or interrupt the process in any way – doing so can cause serious device malfunctions. Also, make sure not to rename the update file as this will cause the same problems.
