Western Digital has made available a new firmware package targeted at two of its storage devices, namely version 2.2.10.18 compatible with the Sentinel DS6100 and DS5100 units, which includes a few changes that improve overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, this fresh release adds Disk Drive User Experience on the Monitor page and updates the messaging feature to display “Single Drive” when one boot drive is used, as well as the Compatible Drive link.

In addition to that, version 2.2.10.18 also improves the network interface performance, resolves the Client Computer Monitor issue from the Alert Viewer, and adds support for “TLER” on one or more boot drives.

As for applying this firmware, copy the downloadable archive onto a USB drive, insert it into the rear port of the Sentinel, and login to the storage’s dashboard.

Go to Monitor → Software Update, click on the “Update from file” button located under “Check for Updates,” and select to proceed when the update message that requests a system reboot appears.

Now, select and open the “sentinel_firmware_2_2_10_18.zip” file from the USB drive and allow the Sentinel to apply the new firmware. Bear in mind that, during the installation, the server will reboot several times and the progress will be displayed on the LCD screen.

That being said, if you wish to upgrade your storage to this version, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your device, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and apply the new firmware.
