Western Digital has made available firmware version 03.01.03-127 developed for its newest addition to the personal cloud storage line-up, namely My Cloud, which fixes a few issues encountered by the device.

Specifically speaking, the new package resolves the problem with Windows 8 shares that were inaccessible for password-free accounts, and the one with the German text mistranslations.

The WD My Cloud firmware update procedure is quite simple and should take only a few minutes to complete. Just get the downloadable package (compatible with both Windows and MAC OSes), open QuickView, and log in to the device’s main dashboard.

From there, go to Settings → Firmware → Update from File, browse to the location where you have saved the firmware package, and select it. At this point, a dialog window will appear and you must agree with the upgrade by clicking the “Ok” button, and the process starts.

Even though the installation takes just a few minutes, make sure the device is connected to a power source during this update, because a power loss might corrupt the system’s firmware, therefore, rendering your device unstable.
