A few moments ago, Western Digital, well known for its storage solutions, has rolled out a new firmware for its My Cloud NAS, namely version 04.00.01-623, which resolves problems with slow data transfer speeds.

In addition to that, the present release improves the dashboard web interface response time, allows users to restore a Safepoint from a removable USB drive, and fixes the .smi subtitle issue encountered when streaming media content to LG Smart TVs.

Moreover, data exchange between the NAS and an attached USB drive won’t experience any interruptions, and the Help Content will show the left panel chapters in the dashboard’s English language.

As for updating to this version, simply save and unzip the downloadable package, locate the “sq-040001-623-20140904.deb” file, log into the device’s dashboard user interface, go to Settings > Firmware Update > Manual Update, and click the “Update From File” button.

Now, browse and select the newly extracted .deb file, click “Ok” at the next pop-up dialog, and allow the NAS to transfer and then apply the new software.

Bear in mind that interrupting the upgrade process in any way can cause serious device malfunctions or might even leave it in an unusable state.

Therefore, download WD My Cloud Personal Storage Firmware 04.00.01-623, take into account all aforementioned aspects, update your NAS, and enjoy the changes that this new software brings about.
