My DVR Expander USB Edition external hard drives will be introduced today by Western Digital. The new external HDDs offer verified compatibility with DISH Network Corporation's ViP Series HD digital video recorders (DVR), enabling DISH customers to successfully use it for expanded storage space.

[admark=1]The new external drives feature 500GB of storage space and also have the ability to increase the recording capacity possessed by the DISH HD DVRs. All users can easily expand the recording capacity at any moment by simply attaching a My DVR Expander USB Edition hard drive to the DISH Network ViP Series HD DVRs.

The cooling system featured by the external hard drive is a no-fan passive one, which allows a quiet usage of the drive, making it ideal for use either in bedrooms or living rooms. Besides having a noiseless cooling system, the new external HDDs also include an eco-friendly WD AV-GP hard drive that features GreenPower technology. Having a passive cooling system allows the drive to be more power efficient than any other standard external HDD, the power consumption of the HDD being reduced with almost one-third.

The compatibility between the new My DVR Expander USB Edition external HDD and DISH Network ViP Series HD DVRs has been successfully tested. According to WD, the two devices work perfectly together. Also, the company plans to extend the compatibility of the hard drive to other cable and satellite DVRs as soon as the manufacturers make available USB ports on their launched DVRs.

Western Digital has already made its new external hard drive available on the United States market. Customers wanting to purchase My DVR Expander USB Edition can also do this by directly contacting WD on the company's site. The price tag for the new 500 GB external HDD has been set at $149.99 USD.
