After picking on Lady Gaga and even Justin Bieber, the Westboro Baptist Church turned its attention again to an old “favorite,” Adam Lambert. Members of the WBC wanted to protest outside Springfield, Missouri, where the singer had a concert over the weekend – but even if they had showed up, they would still have been outnumbered by loyal Glambert fans who came to deliver an anti-hate message, Examiner informs.

Over 200 people gathered outside the venue, even if they did not have tickets to the concert, which is part of the Glam Nation Tour, to show their support to the openly gay singer and the message of universal love he’s sending with his music. The anti-hate protesters came armed with banners that said that love was all that the world needed to find happiness and peace – and were somewhat disappointed to see that no WBC member had showed up as announced.

To their surprise, though, Adam himself came out to personally thank them for their wonderful gesture, as the fan-made video below can confirm. The singer signed a few autographs and talked to as many people as possible, right before heading inside to perform. After the concert, Adam also took to his Twitter to thank the anti-hate protesters once more, calling the rally “amazing.” “Completely outnumbered the Westboro Bastard Church of Ignorance. Love overcomes hate,” Adam said.

“Adam Lambert made an impromptu appearance Saturday night to thank nearly 200 anti-hate supporters outside the Springfield, Missouri venue where he was performing. The American Idol discovery surprised supporters who were protesting against a planned rally by members of the hate group Westboro Baptist Church. […] After signing autographs and thanking supporters, Lambert took to Twitter furthering his anti-hate campaign and dismissing the hate group’s message,” Examiner says.

Fans protesting against the WBC’s hate message were completely taken aback by Adam’s appearance, since no one knew he was planning on coming down personally to talk to them. As the video below shows, this almost compensated for the fact that they had not bought tickets to see him perform – at least with the fans that made the clip.
