VueScan (8.4.95) Adds Support for New Scanners

VueScan, the Hamrick Software-developed scanning application for Mac OS X, has received an update, bringing the current version of the software to 8.4.95. The release adds a new option when using Nikon CoolScan 5000, as well as support for new HP and Canon scanners.

Hamrick Software's VueScan works with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners. The software can help Mac users produce scans boasting excellent color fidelity and balance. They can do batch scanning, while producing color-balanced and cropped images at the same time, all thanks to the advanced hardware capabilities of today's scanners.

VueScan sports advanced features for restoring faded colors, batch scanning, and other tools used by professional photographers, supporting more than 400 scanners and 157 digital camera raw files.

With the new version of VueScan, Hamrick Software has added the "Input | Fine mode" option for Nikon CoolScan 5000, fixed a problem with "Prefs | Auto refresh" option, and an issue with Canon N650U/N656U color balance, all while including new support for a bunch of HP and Canon scanners. The newly supported devices are listed below.

New HP scanners supported: Photosmart C5300, Photosmart C5500, Photosmart C6300

New Canon scanners supported: 5600F (flatbed only), LiDE 100, LiDE 200, MP190, MP240, MP260, MP480, MP540, MP620, MP630, MP980

VueScan comes in two editions, Standard and Professional. When you download the software, it operates as a free trial, but as soon as you purchase it and enter the serial number, the Standard Edition or Professional Edition features are enabled. Moreover, the dollar-sign watermark is disabled.

As an existing user, you can update to the latest version for free. To do so, just download the trial version from the link provided below, and the software will automatically recognize if you've already purchased it. Just install it over your old version of VueScan. Upgrades are free in the first year after you purchase the Standard Edition, while Professional Edition buyers get all their updates for free. VueScan requires Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or later, and a supported scanner.
