The 2007 Frankfurt Musikmesse - plenitude of pleasant surprises, giving us the new Vox amps

It's quite possible that the European Musikmesse in Frankfurt beats the American NAMM in many aspects; if the NAMM hasn't brought us as many things as expected and not even as many new stuff as the previous edition, it's not the case with the European music tech meeting.

From the most exquisite pieces of gear down to the smallest parts, the Musikmesse has had them all. It's now the right time to tell you about one of the world's leading names in guitar amplification, Vox - and what they came with at Frankfurt.

For those who know not, Vox equals vintage and power: a very old brand, skilled in developing and offering extreme quality guitar amplification, even if sometimes, the nicest pieces of tube-technology may dive way deep in your budget. Nevertheless, names like Jon Jorgenson (Elton John, Hellecasters), Nickelback or Primus have endorsed their needs to Vox and haven't been ever disappointed.

Ow, don't think that you need to be a big-name rockstar to get your hands on a Vox amp. The two new models presented at the Messe are the perfect example that even young players with less comprising pockets could play Vox. The new amps, the 10 and 20 Of the DA series may become the perfect weapons in the hands of the young yet restless guitar player.

Loaded with a very serious array of digital effects ready to help you get the most from your actual playing, the DA10 and DA20 can be made to output 0.5, 1.5 or Max power, thus being effectively fit for home use or even road practice.

From mirror-clean sounds to the hyper saturated overdrives, the new VOX amps will retain their classic and powerful tone even at low volume levels so you won't be forced to compromise. The 11 effects like autowah, reverb, delay, compression and so on will make sure you can shape more of your tone than a regular amp would allow you to. The amp pumps sound to two speakers, no matter if we speak about the DA10 or the DA20: the smaller model has 2 6.5" drivers while the bigger sports 2 8" units.

Adding mic and aux input and outs for headphones/mixer (in recording situations) makes a totally versatile and usual amp out of the Vox DA. The black vinyl finish is standard, as well as the dual power-up methods: DC or 4 C-type batteries. Due for availability later in June, the new Vox DA10 and DA20 have not any announced price; they're Vox, alright, but they won't let you dry, that's a fact!
