14 DAY TRIAL // Vonage Holdings, a well-known provider of voice and messaging services over broadband networks, recently announced the update of the Vonage Mobile application for Facebook. iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users will be able to upgrade to the latest 1.2 version of Vonage Mobile app for free.
The new iteration of the application provides users with the possibility to invite their friends to download the Vonage Mobile software directly from their Apple mobile device.
Furthemore, those who found the application useful can send invitations to their contacts found in the device's phonebook via email or SMS.
“By making it even easier for users to share the Vonage Mobile application for Facebook, we're expanding the benefits of our low-cost, high-value communications experience to a wider audience,” said Nick Lazzaro, senior vice president of Product Development and Information Technology.
“We strive to develop services that allow people to communicate on their own terms, and this is a further evolution of our vision,” continued Lazzaro.
For those who never heard of the application, Vonage Mobile for Facebook allows users to make free mobile calls to all of their Facebook friends who have the app installed on their device.
Free calls can me made anywhere in the world, directly from the friends list, with no worries about extra roaming charges, as long as the call is made while using Wi-Fi connectivity.
Obviously, the service works over Wi-Fi and 3G networks and is available in most countries.
However, users who don't have an unlimited data plan are recommended to check with their mobile carrier for any data charges that may apply to 3G connections.
Vonage Mobile for Facebook is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices running iOS 3.1 or later. It requires 6.9 MB of storage space, Vonage Mobile App, as well as a Facebook account.
