Vollee has announced the closing of a $4 million Series A financing round from lead investor BlueRun Venture, after Benchmark Capital has joined as an investor during the last year.
The company offers PC and console quality games on 3G-enabled mobile devices with a development and porting process of less than four weeks, without requiring access to the game's original source code.
Its video streaming platform delivers an exciting range of titles with all the 3D graphics, complex AI and deep game play that have up until now not been available on mobile
phones. The VolleeX engine, currently patent-pending, adapts the game real-time to ensure fun gameplay on mobiles.
"Vollee's purpose is to fulfill the promise of mobile as a truly ubiquitous gaming device," says Yossi Hasson, CEO of Vollee. "We recognize that today the cost and time to create deep game experiences on mobile simply does not balance with the quality of the end product. By leveraging the existing assets from game owners and the new 3G capacity of mobile carrier networks, Vollee is leading the way to enabling the most advanced mobile gaming platform in the world."
Vollee's team includes proven leaders in the mobile and gaming sector, while the company's management has previously worked at
Nokia, Apple, In-Fusio and other renown companies. Vollee packages the games it licenses from PC and console game owners in an interactive mobile portal, while partnering with mobile operators to distribute and market the service to 3G subscribers.
"The current generation of mobile games have limited gameplay and graphics and require extraordinary time and money to produce, relative to typical financial returns," said Arad Naveh, Partner at Benchmark Capital. "The team at Vollee is overcoming these challenges; we think it's a landscape-changing solution."
