Users in the United States were already capable of controlling their Android-powered mobile phones using their voice, courtesy of Voice Actions, a series of spoken commands that were launched last year for them, and now more users can take advantage of this feature.

Using Voice Actions, people can easily call a business and even their contacts, while also being able to easily send texts, browse the web, or complete a series of other tasks, all of these through simply speaking to the phone.

As stated above, more users around the world can benefit from this feature starting today, including people living in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Voice Actions just learned a series of new languages, and users can speak to their phones in British English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

“To use Voice Actions, tap the microphone button on the Google search box on your home screen, open the Voice Search app, or press down for a few seconds on the physical search button on your phone to activate the 'Speak Now' screen,” Bertrand Damiba, product manager, Google, notes in a blog post.

Those who would like to learn some more info on how to use Voice Actions on their Android mobile phones should have a look at the video embedded at the bottom of this article.

The list of commands that are available for performing Voice Actions on the phone include:

send text to [contact] [message] call [business] call [contact] go to [website] navigate to [location/business name] directions to [location/business name] map of [location]

At the same time, Android users can easily perform various searches on Google by using only their voice on the phone.

All devices running under Android 2.2 or higher offer support for Voice Actions. Those who do not have Voice Search on their handsets will find it available for download via the Android Market here.
