Editor in chief of Vogue magazine Anna Wintour got hit in the face with a pie, after expressing her support for the fur-clothes.
According to the New York Daily News, Wintour was attending Chanel's fashion show in Paris, when an anti-fur demonstrator for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals came out of nowhere and smashed into her face a vegetarian tofu pie, yelling "Fur Hag". The person disappeared in a matter of seconds, running out of the building.
Later, Wintour commented the incident, telling a close friend that she didn't know "what type of pie it was--maybe tofu", but she was sure it was great for her skin.
According to the vice president of PETA, Dan Mathews, it all started when Anna refused to run his organization's ads in the favor of fur manufacturer's commercial, even though they offered the same money.
Anna Wintour, born November 3, 1949 in London, England, is the Editor-in-Chief of the U.S. edition of Vogue, a position she has held since 1988. She is an icon of the fashion world.
This is not the first time when Wintour has been the target of the animal rights organization, who are angered by her use of fur in Vogue. Undeterred, she continues to use fur in photo spreads.
